Citroën Creates an Amazing Scale Rally Scene On Top of a DS3

The French really outdid themselves with a detailed diorama molded on top of a Citroën DS3 hatchback, created to celebrate Sébastien Loeb and Daniel Elena’s nine FIA World Rally Championship titles.

Revealed at the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) earlier this month and set to remain on show until March 1, the 1:43 scale model displays nine different rally events, one for every championship win, from the Rally Finland to the Acropolis Rally, with each terrain featuring a 1:43 scale model of one of the duo’s championship-winning cars, dating back to 2004 and the Citroën Xsara.

Designed and built by Kieron Barter of Funky Lemon Design, the display model took about two months to complete.

Talking about the model-making process, Barter said: “When I was initially approached by Citroën about this, I was really excited. It’s definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience so I jumped at the chance. The most enjoyable, and perhaps most challenging part was working with a DS3 to get the mould for the car, purely because it’s not something that I’ve done before and it was very important to get the mould right.”

Citroën stated that it plans a dealer tour of the car later in the year and will also show the model at various events throughout the summer.

Facelifted Citroen C5 arrives at the Dealer in China

The facelifted Citroen C5 will be launched on the Chinese car market on March 1 and the first vehicles have arrived at Citroen dealers in China. The facelift included a new grille, new head lights, new bumpers, new rear lights and an updated interior.

The grille, more fuzzy than before with more lines and extra chrome. The Citroen C5 is made in China by the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture. The old engines will all continue: 2.0, 2.3 and a 3.0 V6, the rumored 1.6 turbo has been delayed. Price for the facelifted Citroen C5 will range from 175.900 yuan to 290.000 yuan.

Chrome bar grew bigger and moved down from trunk lid to bumper.

The Citroen C5 is based on the same platform as the Peugeot 508 which is made in China as well.

This is the new dash. New higher-quality materials and a redesigned center console. But! No flat screen. Spy shots, and Citroens leaked officials pics, clearly showed a new TFT screen on top of mentioned console. We therefore expected all C-fives would get the screen, but that appears not to be true. Not a good move, Chinese car buyers expect a 175.000 yuan car to come with a screen these days, even 50.000 yuan Chery’s don’t come without.

Citroen DS4 and DS5 set to debut next week

It’s confirmed – as speculated on Monday, Naza Euro Motors has announced that it will be unveiling the Citroen DS4 and DS5 in conjunction with the opening of its Citroen Glenmarie 3S facility next Tuesday.

The two Different Spirit models are the first Citroens to be introduced by NEM following its appointment as the official distributor for the brand here, and both vehicles will be petrol versions.

The DS5 variant arriving here will be a THP 156 version, the Prince 1.6 litre twin-scroll turbo mill offering the by-now familiar 156 hp and 240 Nm of torque, paired to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Meanwhile, the DS4 will also be a 1.6 litre job, with 163 hp and 240 Nm for output numbers, again with a six-speeder auto gearbox. As in the case of the 408 Turbo, the increased output is likely the result of a revised turbo, changes to the ECU mapping and reworked pistons in the EP6CDTM.

Both cars will be showcased at the exclusive DS Salon housed in the Citroen Glenmarie facility. We’ll have more on the cars on launch day.

Oh, (Big) Brother: Citroen C1 the First Car to be Fitted with Standard Insurance ‘Black Box’



See the young lady leaning towards the new Citroen C1 Connexion Edition in the pictures? That big smile on her face isn't because the uncomfortable photo session is coming to an end, but because she just learned that Citroen is the first manufacturer in the UK to offer a ‘black box’ solution as standard on a new car.

And what is this "black box"? Well, Citroen doesn't really divulge a lot of details, but just like the devices of the same name used in airplanes, the telematics Black Box in the Citroen will collect and store certain driving data and habits, which will then be utilized by insurance companies to increase, retain or lower your rates.

Citroen UK explained in a press statement:

"The Smartnav system, provided by Trafficmaster, allows Citroën to offer free insurance for the first year of ownership to all eligible drivers from 19 - 75 years of age when the car is funded with Elect 3 or Elect 4 finance. This new initiative from Citroën means younger drivers can now drive off in a new Citroën C1 1.0i 68 manual 3-door Connexion for just £109 per month plus deposit on Elect 3 finance - complete with free insurance."

"The Citroën insurance included in this offer is free for qualifying young drivers subject to two years No Claims Discount (NCD). Thanks to the fitment of the telematics unit, Citroën is also able to offer heavily discounted cover to drivers with zero or just one year’s NCD. For example a 19 year old with no NCD can insure a new C1 Connexion with Citroën Insurance for just £950."

"Importantly, renewal premiums will be based on the driving behaviour over the first 12 months of ownership. This means that, regardless of the age of the named individuals on the policy, good driving habits will be rewarded with lower insurance premiums in subsequent years."

Facelifted Citroen C5 launched on the Chinese car market

The facelifted Citroen C5 sedan has been launched on the Chinese car market, price starts at 176.900 yuan and ends at 298.900 yuan. The facelift includes a new grille, new head lights, new bumpers, new rear lights, new alloys, and an updated interior.

New grille not too pretty but extra chrome is very shiny. Chinese car buyers think: chrome = expensive = good, so automakers keep on adding more. The Citroen C5 is made in China by the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture alongside the Peugeot 508.

The old engines all continue in the facelifted Citroen C5: 2.0, 2.3 and a 3.0 V6. The modern and down-sized 169hp 1.6 turbo will be available in the China-made C5 too, but when exactly is not clear. Downsizing is becoming trendy in China too, but many car buyers still believe a big car should have a big engine. The trend is stronger in smaller-sized cars, say Golf, where Chinese car buyers are perfectly willing to swap a 2.0 for a 1.5 turbo.

Better materials than before. Dash design basically the same, except for new flatscreen which only comes with the most expensive versions. The cheaper versions get this.

Citroen C4L 1.8 will debut on the Shanghai Auto Show

The Citroen C4L sedan was launched on the Chinese car market in December last year, priced between at 123.900 and 169.900 yuan. It is currently only available with a 117hp 1.6 and a 163hp 1.6 turbo.

That however will change on the Shanghai Auto Show when Citroen will launch a 136hp 1.8, mated to a 5-speed manual or six-speed automatic. The new engine will be positioned between the 1.6 and 1.6 turbo, price will start around 150.000 yuan. Via: Autohome.

Peugeot details new marketing strategy

PSA Peugeot - Citroën has announced that it will launch a new marketing strategy in order to widen the gap between its two main brands. The plan is an effort to broaden each brand's clientele and it is expected to come into full effect before the end of the decade.

Under the new strategy, upcoming C-badged Citroën vehicles like the C1, the C3 and the C5 will be positioned slightly lower than the current models. They will not be no-frills low-cost models like the members of Renault's Dacia brand, but they will be less powerful than their Peugeot counterparts and they will not pack as much high-tech equipment. Instead, Citroën will put a big focus on the C-car's green credentials, high gas mileage and affordable base price.

To compensate for the C-badged lineup moving downwards, Citroën's premium DS family will grow in size and become a little more upscale. New models will be added, including a crossover based on the recently-introduced Peugeot 2008, a flagship sedan tentatively called DS6 and a five-door version of the next DS3.

Peugeot will move slightly upmarket in order to cater to buyers seeking more traditional cars. This means no wild and overdone styling cues or eye-catching paint jobs, but elegant lines, powerful engines and a cabin packed with the latest high-tech equipment. The RCZ coupe is likely to stick around as a halo model.

PSA's new marketing strategy looks promising on paper, but analysts have already voiced their skepticism.

"We don't need to quote John Maynard Keynes to know this may be academic if PSA runs out of liquidity and these products never get launched," said Bernstein Research in a statement.

Citroen to unveil premium crossover in Shanghai

France's Citroën is putting the finishing touches on a crossover that will ride on the same platform as the DS4 hatchback. Tentatively called DSX, the crossover is scheduled to make its public debut at the Shanghai Motor Show that will open its doors next month.

The DS name indicates that Citroën's crossover will be positioned higher up on the market than the recently-unveiled Peugeot 2008. While the 2008 is aimed at the Nissan Qashqai and the Ford Kuga, the DSX will fight in the same arena as entry-level variants of the Audi Q3 and the BMW X1.

Official technical details are not currently available but a report published in French magazine Auto Plus reveals that the DSX will inaugurate PSA's first gasoline-electric hybrid drivetrain. The company's existing diesel-electric HYbrid4 system will also be available, while entry-level models will be offered with a host of gasoline- and diesel-burning four-cylinder engines.

Although the two hybrid models will feature four-wheel drive, less expensive variants will only be available with front-wheel drive.

After debuting in Shanghai, the Citroën DSX will go on sale in Europe and in China before the end of the year. Chinese-bound models will be assembled locally which should help Citroën's premium DS line gain a much-needed foothold in the world's largest auto market.

Citroen to preview 2CV successor in Frankfurt

Citroën has confirmed that the long-rumored successor to the iconic 2CV will enter production in Madrid, Spain, before the end of the year.

Called E3 internally, the car will take the form of a five-door hatchback that will offer seating for up to five passengers. What it will look like is not currently known but Citroën has hinted in the past that it will not borrow any design cues from the 65-year old 2CV, making it a successor in spirit only.

Speaking with French website Caradisiac, Thierry Metroz, the design director of Citroën's premium DS line, explained that the E3 will not look like any of the automaker's recent concept. This rules out an often-rumored production version of the no-frills C-Cactus that debuted at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show. The C-Cactus moniker might make it to production, however

Metroz promises that the E3's exterior design will be "totally new" and drastically different from anything Citroën has made before. It will be a lasting design that will still look fresh ten years after its launch.

Under the skin

The E3 will be largely made up of bits and pieces pulled out of the PSA parts bin. It will ride on the same platform as the Golf-fighting C4 and will be offered with a number of gasoline- and diesel-burning engines, including Citroën's new 1.2-liter three-cylinder mill. All engines will send power to the front wheels via a manual transmission.

Inside, the E3 will be considerably simpler than the aforementioned C4. Features such as power windows and a climate control unit will come standard, and tech-minded buyers will be able to order the car with an infotainment system controlled by a seven-inch touch screen.

In short, the E3 will be a new kind of low-cost car that will be better finished than Dacia's no-frills Logan but more affordable than popular compacts such as the C4, the Ford Focus and the Peugeot 308.

"We're not aiming for the [Dacia] Sandero," explained Metroz.

More details about the upcoming Citroën E3 will be revealed over the coming months. When it lands in showrooms, the car will cost about €12,000, a figure that converts to roughly $15,000.

Spy Shots: China-made Citroen C4 Aircross testing in China

Spy shots from the China-made Citroen C4 Aircross. Production at the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture will start late this year and it will be launched on the Chinese car market in early 2014. The Citroen C4 Aircross is currently imported into China and thus too expensive, price starts at 219.800 yuan and ends at 279.800, the locally-made Aircross will be about 20% cheaper.



The Citroen C4 Aircross and its sister-model the Peugeot 4008 are both based on the Mitsubishi ASX, which is made in China as well. Whether the 4008 will be made in China is yet unsure but it seems very likely. The C4 Aircross will be powered by a 1.6 with 115hp and 152nm, mated to a 5-speed automatic, or by a 2.0 with 150hp and 198nm, mated to a CVT.

Spy Shots: China-made Citroen DS5 is almost ready for the Chinese car market

New spy shots of the upcoming China-made Citroen DS5, it will be launched on the Chinese car market in the third quarter of this year. The Citroen DS5 will be made in China by the new Chang’an-PSA joint venture. The platform of the DS5 will also underpin the new Citroen DSX Crossover that will be made in China as well.

The Citroen DS5 is currently imported in China but sales are slow, mostly because it is too expensive. Price starts at 298.800 yuan and ends at 348.800 yuan. Price for the locally made DS5 will start around 250.000 yuan. Power will come from the 163hp 1.6 turbo.

The brand name in Chinese is ‘Chang’an Diyishi’, the latter being a phonetic translation of ‘DS’. The Citroen-name has been left out to differ the DS brand from the bread & butter Citroens that are made in China by the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture.

New Citroen C-Elysee arrives at the Shanghai Auto Show

The new Citroen C-Elysee is practicing to be pretty for its debut tomorrow on the Shanghai Auto Show. The sleek silver vehicle was seen unattended on the unfinished Citroen booth on the show floor.

The new C-clysee will be made by the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture and will replace the current c-Elysee that is based on the first generation Citroen ZX. The new c-Elysee is identical to the new Peugeot 301, which will be made in China as well.

B-pillar loox kinda odd, likely slightly stretched there to create more space in the back. The new C-Elysee will be powered by a new 1.6 liter MPI engine with 114hp, mated to a 5-speed manual or CVT. A 1.8 and possibly a 1.6 turbo are expected to become available next year. The new C-Elysee will compete directly with the Volkswagen Jetta and Volkswagen Santana.

Some stylish little lines above the rear light make an otherwise rather boring design just a bit better.

Citroen DS3 Cabrio launched on the China car market

The Citroen DS3 Cabrio has been launched on the China car market, price starts at 229.800 yuan and ends at 279.800 yuan. The base DS3 was launched in China in August last year. The DS3 Cabrio will compete head-head with other open-top-fashion-accessories such as the Mini Cabrio and the Fiat 500 C.

The DS3 range is currently imported but there are plans for local production at the Chang’an-PSA joint venture in the future. The China-bound DS3 Cabrio is powered by a 1.6 liter four-cylinder with 120hp and 160nm, mated to a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic.

The market for this kind of expensive non-cars is still small but growing fast, especially among young wealthy women who don’t want a speedy sedan or an SUV.

Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen recalls 38.000 cars in China

Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Co Ltd of central China’s Hubei province will recall nearly 38,000 vehicles, China’s consumer quality watchdog said Saturday.

Peugeot 307, Peugeot 308, Peugeot 408 and Citroen C-Quatre vehicles produced from February 23 to April 13, 2012 will be recalled, according to a statement from the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.

The vehicle’s generators may fail to work properly due to substandard electroplating in the generators’ regulators, the statement said. The company will check the recalled vehicles and replace the flawed parts for free.

Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen is a joint venture created by major Chinese carmaker Dongfeng Motor Corp. and French carmaker PSA Peugeot Citroen.

Citroen management is going to address rightful concerns regarding their model lineup overlapping that of sister-brand Peugeot, and in order to make the double chevron logo relevant again, they are going to aim these cars at a different audience, which is more into touchscreens than sports suspension packs.

The information comes from the brand’s CEO, Frederic Banzet, who has announced that they their new line of C-branded cars will better compliment their range of “nearly-premium” DS-badged offerings by “optimizing cost-to-function ratio.”

The Citroen boss was keen to specify the fact that price won’t necessarily be the main differentiating factor between their future offerings and equivalent Peugeot models. They aim to woo buyers with “a very strong design with quite radical choices and a new range of specifications.”

He explained that they’re not planning on having “C-line cars that can be driven at 250kph on the highway, which means simplification of the engine range and gearboxes. But value is added elsewhere, through the ability for the customer to personalize his car…”

Proof of this is the E3 production car, which is to take inspiration from the funky C-Cactus concept, as well as the classic 2CV – emphasis will be put on the design, but unlike the C-line, the E3 will be clearly positioned lower in the range, while still being a more upmarket than cars like the Dacia Logan or Sandero.

Expect to see the first new Citroen C-cars make their appearance sometime in the second half of 2014.

Interesanta abordare..dar totusi la ce vor renunta in detrimentul inovatiilor, sa ajunga la un pret care sa si vanda masina

La motoare probabil. Or sa-ti puna o navigatie de 12" cu touch screen alimentata de catre dynamul conectat la pedalele la care o sa dai sa pui dihania in miscare :)
Nu stiu, si eu sunt tare curios ce-or sa scoata pe viitor ca prea ne ameninta cu schimbari majore
