Citroen Crafts a New Small SUV Concept for Beijing Auto Show

Official teaser drawings of a new Citroen small SUV concept emerged on the web today. Little is known at this time about the as-of-yet unnamed study, which has been prepared by Citroen and its Chinese partner Dongfeng for a world premiere at the Beijing Auto Show later this month.

The images, however, do suggest that the Citroen model is directly related to partner company Peugeot's successful 2008 crossover, which has already sold more than 100,000 units prompting yet another increase in production.

Chances are that Citroen's concept will lead to a production car for China, if not for global consumption. We'll know more when the French firm comes out with an official release on the car.

Citroen C3-XR: un nou model crossover dedicat pieței din China

Citroen a prezentat un nou model crossover numit C3-XR. Nu îl vom vedea prea curând în Europa, fiind un model special dezvoltat pentru piața din China, acolo unde Citroen se bucură de o creștere serioasă.


Noul model crossover Citroen C3-XR, un model dedicat pieței din China a fost prezentat în cadrul unui eveniment găzduit de showroom-ul C_42 de pe Champs-Elysees din Paris. Noul model cross va putea fi comandat de către clienții chinezi începând cu luna decembrie a acestui an. China a devenit o piață extrem de importantă pentru Citroen, una din patru mașini fabricate de către marca franceză fiind vândută în China. Vânzările au crescut cu 19% în acest an, incluzând luna august, iar rețeaua de dealeri Citroen din China crește rapid ajungând la 470 de reprezentanțe.

Clienții asiatici apreciază în special modele ca Citroen C-Elysee sau C4 L, dar oficialii mărcii au considerat că este momentul introducerii și unui model SUV compact. Citroen C3-XR se bazează pe concept car-ul similar numit CX-R ce a fost prezentat la Salonul Auto de la Beijing din luna aprilie a acestui an. La exterior se remarcă elemente specifice modelelor cross, cu protecții pentru pasajele roțiilor și o gardă la sol generoasă. Nu există încă imagini cu interiorul noului model, dar constructorul promite spațiu suficient și o poziție de condus excelentă.


Citroen nu a dat prea multe detalii despre gama de motorizări, spunând doar că producța va avea loc în China, la uzina de la Wuhan, iar pentru început va folosi propulsorul 160 THP asociat cu o cutie de viteze automată cu șase trepte.

Spy Shots: Citroen C3-XR is Almost Ready for the Chinese car market

New spy shots of the new Citroen C3-XR SUV in China, looking almost ready for its launch on the Chinese car market on December 21. The C3-XR is a new China-only compact SUV. It debuted as the C-XR concept on the 2014 Beijing Auto Show in April and the production version debuted in May in Paris.



The Citroen C3-XR is manufactured in China by the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture. The C3-XR will be available with two four-cylinder petrol engines: a 1.6 with 115hp and 150nm, and a 1.6 turbo with 163hp and 245nm. The 1.6 will be mated to a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic, the 1.6 turbo will be mated to a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. Power goes to the front wheels only. Earlier on we heard about a entry-level 1.8, but that engine seems off the table, at least for now.

Size: 4257/1748/1542mm, wheelbase is 2655mm. The platform of the C3-XR is based on a stretched variant of the platform that underpins the Peugeot 2008. Length and wheelbase compared:

C3-XR: 4257, 2655.
2008: 4180, 2540.

Price in China will start around 120.000 yuan and end around 160.000 yuan, positioning the C3-XR just above the Peugeot 2008 (100.000-140.000 yuan). There are no plans to manufacture the C3-XR anywhere else in the world, but it is possible that the China-made car will be exported to neighboring countries in the future.



A very trendy interior with large air vents, an almost oval steering wheel, a medium-sized LCD screen, a big heavily chromed gear lever, and fashionable two-tone leather seats.



Black and orange match nicely. Enough space for three.



Still got that weird rear bumper. On the right a twin-exhaust pipe in a specially spared area. On the left just such an area again, but without any pipes. Extremely disturbing.
